Running the league rather than playing in it. Calendar, disputes, roster limits, collusion policy and the small procedural decisions that keep fourteen managers inside the same competition for a full cycle.

A three-sport league has no offseason, which is the single fact that shapes every other decision. Keeper lists come due between fifteen and thirty days before the draft, and the commissioner sends the deadline each year rather than leaving it to be remembered. Rosters are set weekly except in football, where injuries and byes force a daily view. Free-agent claims run on three different schedules because the sports do, and the supplemental draft happens in August by email while two seasons are already in progress.

The rules document on this site is published as written for a reason: most league arguments are not disagreements about fairness but disagreements about what was agreed. Seven sections cover sports covered, roster moves, roster sizes, scoring, how league finishes convert into points, the cycle and keepers, and free agency. Tiebreakers are worth reading before they are needed — in one cycle two pairs of managers finished level on total points, and the procedure, not a vote, decided who placed higher.

The other half of the job is record-keeping, and it is the half that decides whether a league survives a change of managers. This one kept its board, its ledger and its standings sheets, which is why 700 picks and 74 trades can still be read years later and why a franchise that changed hands between cycles can still be traced. A commissioner who writes the decision down at the time never has to reconstruct it from a group chat afterwards.
