Fantasy Football Deadlines Loom as NFL Deadline Nears
08 November 2026
The NFL trade deadline, on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at 4 p.m, signals a critical moment for fantasy football managers, as it could upend player values and reshuffle depth charts. With the fantasy season in full swing, roster moves that push backups to starters and RB3s to featured backs can come through swaps of marquee players. Such trades must be accepted by the fantasy sports platform by the Saturday before Nov. 12, 2022.
This deadline could drive the biggest fantasy moves of the season. ESPN's report, published a day before the deadline, cited Jonathan Taylor, Tony Pollard, and Kareem Hunt among names on the hot seat. Trading Pollard, the backup in Dallas who has 338 yards on 5.9 per carry, could definitively elevate his backup to RB2 status. Tyler Allgeier, the young Falcons running back, has emerged as the fantasy darling of the month, but he will need injuries to become a weekly option.
Josh Palmer and Brandon Aiyuk have the potential to morph from depth to starter if they are traded to more potent passing attacks. Palmer, a Chargers receiver, could benefit greatly from a change in scenery, as a move to a team like the Kansas City Chiefs could boost his weekly projection. An August report from NFL Network set the probability of Taylor getting moved at 30%, and a stay with the Indianapolis Colts seems the likeliest.

Death, taxes, and the annual downturn of the Colts around the NFL trade deadline; you simply cannot escape. ESPN's fantasy rankings now have Tyler Allgeier as well regarded as Jamaal Williams, and the veteran RB finds himself likely to be the focal point of his backfield if Cordarrelle Patterson is traded.
Neither of those backfield situations, however, is as stable as Antonio Gibson is with Brian Robinson. Robinson is leading all Commanders running backs in total points per game by a margin. According to NFL Network, his starting role appears secure, and trade rumors have Gibson on the way out. Allgeier will have competition in Caleb Huntley when the Falcons return to practice, but the fate of his fantasy fortunes rests with his backfield mate.
