NFL Draft Betting, Fantasy, and Crypto: How Draft Season is Reshaping Engagement

Last reviewed

30 October 2026

The NFL Draft has always been a marquee event for fans. But as fantasy sports participation, regulated sports betting, and blockchain-driven gambling products continue to expand, draft season is becoming a full-blown fantasy/reality hybrid phenomenon.

Major sportsbooks including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, bet365, and event-market platform Kalshi all opened betting markets for the 2026 NFL Draft, according to Fox Sports. But legal sports betting is regulated state by state, so availability depends on your location.

States that allow NFL Draft betting are reaching a critical mass, though with wide variation in the forms permitted. Major tenders including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington D.C., and Wyoming allow unrestricted betting, Covers reported in 2025. But five states -- Arizona, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, and West Virginia -- only permit some types of draft betting.

Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Virginia do not allow NFL Draft betting at all, according to Covers. Nevada has also traditionally restricted draft betting, but with the growing popularity of sports betting, the move to regulate may be on the horizon.

For the NFL itself, the Draft now has a new element of on-field promotion. In August 2026, the league announced formal partnerships with DraftKings and FanDuel, as well as an agreement with Fanatics, the exclusive retailer of NFL licensed merchandise, according to NFL Media.

Those partnerships allow DraftKings, FanDuel, and now Fanatics to have a more significant presence at tentpole events including the Super Bowl and the NFL Draft. It's clear the NFL is becoming more integrated, either directly or through partnerships, into the future of sports gambling that includes crypto-based engagement.

More on this is available via best crypto casinos online 2026.

On the fantasy and blockchain front, one alternate fantasy experience is FootballCoin, a fan-engagement experience that describes itself as a "comprehensive crypto-based football game" where players can collect cards, build teams, and win FootballCoin's XFC cryptocurrency, according to its website.

The NFL season itself is becoming increasingly affiliated with crypto gambling. One example is a plateau in betting volume from crypto casinos on NFL games, according NFL Draft Buzz. Sports betting happens in concentrated windows, often before kickoff, at halftime, during the fourth quarter, and immediately after the final whistle in the NFL. That fits well with crypto casino rollouts.

Draft season isn't just an opportunity for interest but also for earnings for crypto casinos. One crypto gambling site, BC.GAME, extended nearly half-a-million offers to NFL fans during the 2026 season, according to the report.

Draft season intersects with many elements of the gambling and fan engagement sweep now underway. It has become a center of fantasy sports, sports betting, and crypto platforms that fans and leagues are partnering with like never before.
